    TL;DR

    Who is Avinash Chate?

Avinash Chate is a corporate trainer, motivational speaker, TEDxBEC speaker and author of three published books. He works with organisations across India on leadership, motivation, communication, behaviour change and practical AI adoption. His recorded work includes conversations with experienced business leaders, not only stage talks. His client record includes Bajaj Auto, Tata Tech, Mahindra, L&T, Bosch, Siemens, Infosys, TCS, KPIT, RBI, BARC, Indian Army, BRO, JSW and Ferrero. His motivational speaking work connects ideas with workplace action.

Who is B.B. Thombare and why did Avinash interview him?

B.B. Thombare is the chairman and managing director of Natural Sugar and Allied Industries. In the conversation, Avinash introduces him as a leader with around 50 years of achievement and responsibility across nearly 25 organisations and trusts. The interview matters because it follows the decisions behind the profile: interrupted schooling, professional education, work in cooperative sugar mills, leadership at Manjara and the later decision to build an enterprise in his own rural region.

What does the interview teach about rural entrepreneurship?

Thombare says he was born in 1953 in Ranjani, then a village of about 1,000 to 1,200 people. When further schooling was unaffordable, he spent six months tending cattle before his grandfather helped him resume education. He later completed B.Com and MBA studies and returned to create work in the region. Avinash says, “बऱ्याचदा मी माझ्या कॉर्पोरेट ट्रेनिंग सेशनमध्ये तुमचं उदाहरण देतो,” meaning, “I often use your example in my corporate training sessions.”

What leadership lesson comes from trust?

Asked what he learned from leaders Vilasrao Deshmukh and Gopinath Munde, Thombare focuses on trust: choose a colleague carefully, then support that person fully. For a manager, trust is not passive freedom. It needs a clear mission, authority to act and visible backing when the work becomes difficult. This principle is central to my leadership training for managers, delivered in Pune and across India: accountability rises when people know the leader will not withdraw support at the first challenge.

Why does cost consciousness matter for managers?

Thombare connects his accounting background with later success as a managing director and business owner. He explains cost consciousness as more than watching money. It includes time, effort and the value created by each activity. Technical excellence still needs commercial judgment. A manager should ask what problem is being solved, what resources it consumes, who benefits and how the result will be measured. This lens helps teams control waste without reducing every decision to the cheapest option.

How is AI changing sugarcane farming?

The interview also records a practical AI use in agriculture. Thombare says Natural Sugar had installed AI technology across 550 farmers' fields. The system could guide hourly water use, flag disease risk, track crop growth and support prediction. The important management lesson is not to chase a fashionable tool. Start with a recurring decision, collect reliable field data and keep the farmer and agricultural expert responsible for the action. Technology strengthens judgment when ownership remains clear.
