Lime kilns, refractories and the works at Kymore

Katni is called the Lime City and has earned the name. The district's limestone has fed a couple of hundred kilns and processing units around the town for decades, and the calcination, hydrated-lime and refractory trade built on them is the reason a district this size carries an industrial register at all. The deeper seams feed cement. The works at Kymore, in Vijayraghavgarh tehsil, has been an integrated cement plant on this limestone for generations, with its own mines, crushers and freight sidings.
