Claude Cowork for business lets an office team hand routine file and document work to an AI that does the steps, while a person reviews the result. Here is a first workflow.

Claude Cowork for business means giving an AI a routine office task, such as sorting files, building a summary or preparing a report, and letting it carry out the steps while you review the result. No coding is needed. With a Rs 1.5 trillion Indian L&D market chasing skills, the teams that gain most are the ones that pick one small workflow and practise it properly.
TL;DRThink of Cowork as a careful assistant that can work on files and documents for you, not just chat. You describe the job, it does the steps, and shows you what it produced. Typical office uses: turning a folder of meeting notes into a weekly summary, drafting a first version of a report from several documents, tidying a spreadsheet, or preparing a briefing before a client call. It does not replace the person who knows the business. It removes the copy-paste work around that person.
Choose a task that happens every week, takes an hour or two, and has a result you can judge quickly. A weekly status report is ideal: gather the updates, group them by project, flag what is late. Another good one is a monthly vendor follow-up list. Avoid starting with anything touching money or legal commitments. The aim of the first workflow is to build trust and a habit, not to impress anyone. Our AI training for working professionals sessions begin exactly this way.
| Part of the brief | What to write | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Audience | Who will read the result | Operations head, weekly review |
| Inputs | Which files or folders to use | This weeks project update notes |
| Format | How the output should look | One page, grouped by project |
| Exclusions | What to leave out | No client names, no costs |
| Good result | How you will judge it | Every late item is flagged with an owner |
Most weak results come from loose instructions. Write the task like a brief for a new colleague: who the output is for, what files to use, what format you want, and what to leave out. Then add a line on what a good result looks like. Run it, read the output, and refine the brief once or twice. Save the final brief and reuse it each week. The table below shows a simple brief template that I give participants in team sessions.
A person approves anything that leaves the building or moves money: client emails, quotations, payment lists, HR decisions. Check names, dates and figures against the source files, because an AI can summarise confidently and still pick the wrong number. Also check what it was allowed to see. Keep confidential files out unless your company policy allows them. I run my own businesses with a number of AI agents, and in every case a human sits at the approval step. That is not a limitation. It is the design.
The common ones: starting too big, skipping the written brief, trusting the first output, and letting one enthusiastic person run it alone. Another is picking a task that nobody actually checks, so errors pile up unseen. Fix these by choosing one team, naming one owner for the workflow and one reviewer, and holding a fifteen minute review at the end of the first month. Ask what saved time, what needed fixing, and what to try next.
Training works best when it is hands-on with your own files and tasks. I usually run a half-day session: tool basics, writing a good brief, building one real workflow per team, then a review habit. Participants leave with a working workflow, not a certificate. It is used for routine office work that involves files and several steps: weekly summaries, first-draft reports, spreadsheet tidying and briefing notes. A person reviews the result before it is used.
No. You describe the task in plain language. Training focuses on writing a clear brief, checking the output, and deciding where a person must approve.
It depends on your company policy and what you share. Start with non-confidential files, decide clearly what the tool may see, and keep a human approving anything that leaves the company.
